Welcome to this space, perfect for those who love yoga… and also for those who, after several attempts, still can't touch their toes.
Today I want to invite you to reflect on International Yoga Day, its essence, and how you can make the most of this celebration, whether you are a beginner or a true yogi.
Why is June 21st so important for yoga?
Every June 21st, we celebrate International Yoga Day. It is no coincidence that yoga is celebrated right on the summer solstice, in the northern hemisphere. The Sun, that great protagonist, reminds us of the inner strength you can awaken.
The UN General Assembly established this day in 2014, thanks to the initiative of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Since then, this date highlights the importance of yoga in modern life.
Why dedicate an entire day to yoga?
The purpose is simple: for everyone to become aware of the enormous benefits of yoga, beyond the poses for the photo. We are talking about physical, mental, and even spiritual health. Do you realize? Practicing yoga not only shapes your body, but your mind is freed, stress decreases, and anxiety — which is so common these days — gradually fades away.
I propose this idea: start your day with a few minutes of yoga. You will immediately notice how your flexibility and strength improve, but what is truly transformative will be the peace you feel inside. When the Moon and the Sun play their roles in the universe, you also learn to balance your emotions. If life demands more than you can handle, try a deep breath and you will see the difference.
Every corner of the world fills on June 21st with workshops, outdoor sessions, virtual classes, and events where millions connect with you and with tradition. The wonderful thing is that everyone can join. Are you a beginner? You are welcome. If you only manage the child's pose, no one judges you; the community always opens its arms.
Stop for a moment…
Close your eyes. Breathe deeply. Ask yourself: how would my day change if I dedicated a few minutes to my well-being? What if the search for balance started with a simple stretch and a mindful mind?
Since 2015, International Yoga Day has united millions, in cities as diverse as New York, Beijing, Paris, or New Delhi. Each one seeks the same thing: to stop the world for a moment to find stillness and self-awareness. Yoga never goes out of style; it always has something new to teach you, like that book you always return to in times of doubt.
And you? Will you let the next June 21st pass without trying a few stretches, even if it’s in your living room? The Universe always rewards action. Let the Sun inspire you and the Moon help you sleep peacefully after practicing.
If you are already an expert, share this gift and encourage someone to try it. Energy multiplies when you are generous. Never underestimate the joy of practicing yoga with company; the experience is doubly enriching.
Enjoy the process. Make yoga a part of your life and watch how it transforms you. Allow both the stars and your determination to accompany you on the path.
